What changes the consultancy fee
The main factors are certification scope, sites, headcount, process complexity, existing controls, documentation quality and how much implementation support is required. A focused single-site business with usable records usually needs a different scope from a multi-site organisation starting without defined processes.
What changes the certification quote
Certification bodies determine audit duration and fees using their own accredited processes and the details of your organisation and scope. Obtain comparable written quotes and check what is included, including Stage 1, Stage 2, surveillance, travel and certificate charges.
UKAS-accredited certification
ISO develops the standard but does not certify companies. UKAS accredits certification bodies in the UK. If a buyer requires UKAS-accredited ISO 9001 certification, verify the certification body and its relevant scope in the current UKAS directory before signing a contract.
ISO 9001 is being revised
As of this page’s fact-check date, ISO lists ISO 9001:2015 as current and the sixth edition as under publication. Organisations should check the current edition and confirm transition arrangements with their certification body rather than relying on a fixed timetable published by a consultant.
